About the Director…Dr. Kirstina Ordetx holds a doctorate in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in pediatric neurology. Dr. Ordetx is an educational specialist with over 25 years of clinical experience, research, and consultation. She is a Certified Nutrition and Wellness Consultant, Executive Functions Coach, and a registered Licensed Mental Health Intern. She is a certified Orton-Gillingham trainer and has published two books that compile her research and practice in Theory of Mind. She has served on accreditation committees for the Florida Council of Independent Schools, is a university adjunct professor in developmental and child psychology, and presents at various national and international conferences. Dr. Ordetx owns a private academy in Lakewood Ranch, Florida specializing in the multi-sensory education of students who have language and learning-based differences. She holds a position on the Board of Directors for the Florida Branch of the International Dyslexia Association (FLIDA).
Michelle is the Pinnacle Program Supervisor. As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, she has developed and implemented functional behavior assessments and support plans for individuals across the lifespan. In addition to training faculty and parents on the campus, Michelle collects and analyzes data on various research topics and presents workshops on instructional methods and behavioral intervention at local, statewide, and national conferences. Michelle has had the fortunate opportunity to study and work with well-respected behaviorists such as Dr. Jon Bailey and Dr. Al Murphy.
Karl is the Business Manager at the Pinnacle Academy. He has 20 years of experience in financial services, with a background in insurance accounting, health & worker’s compensation, and non-profit accounting.
Joy Wortley is the Head of the Pre-K Department. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, is a certified pre-k teacher and has over 15 years of experience working with young children in an exceptional classroom setting. She is professionally trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach.  Joy has also provided treatment in applied behavior analysis, consulting with families and professionals in the home, community, and school settings. She has been with the Pinnacle Academy since it opened in 2002.
